The season for coffees from Central America is upon us and we are happy to offer this tasty Javanica variety from the group Sacuanjoche. Sacuanjoche is a group of growers in the Jinotega department of Nicaragua. Their group is named after the national flower, known for its beauty and intense fragrance.
The history of the Javanica variety in Nicaragua is somewhat vague, but it is believed to be of Ethiopian origin and traditionally planted in Java. At some point in time it made its way to Nicaragua and was more recently discovered in an experimental variety nursery. Now you can find the Javanica variety grown on a number of farms in Nicaragua and this lot represents a blend from a few of the producers from the Sacuanjoche group.
After grinding, we are finding sweet caramel, and soft floral aromatics. In the cup, the caramel sweetness persists and is joined by honeycrisp and white grape notes. Sweet, crisp and balanced – just right to get you going on these chillier fall mornings.
